Mercedes-Benz is expanding its green power portfolio in cooperation with the energy supplier Enovos and the Norwegian energy producer Statkraft. This means that from 2022 onwards, the company will purchase electricity in Germany that comes exclusively from renewable sources. The CO2-free electricity from solar, wind and hydro sources is generated in various power plants, most of which are located in Germany. The truck kits are produced at the CKD Center (CKD = Completely Knocked Down) at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Wörth, Germany, before being packed as a kit and then sent on its journey by container ship. Once it arrived on the market, the vehicles are assembled to the finished truck on site at foreign assembly plant or local partners.
