Following extensive tests the extra-large CapaCity L articulated bus from Mercedes-Benz has been approved for operations in local public transport in Gothenburg (Sweden).

In 2015, Daimler Buses increased its earnings by nine percent to€ 214 million (PY € 197 million) despite the massive market decline inBrazil. These earnings include expenses from the restructuring of theDaimler Group’s dealer network as well as income that resulted from thesale of the investment in New MCI Holdings Inc. in the US. Return on salesincreased to 5.2% (PY 4.7%). Daimler Buses is thus benchmark in the busbusiness.

Developed for exceptionally busy routes in congested urban areas, this large-capacity articulated bus is great in many respects. It offers great manoeuvrability, for despite its exceptional length of 21 m the CapaCity L is amazingly agile. And the new CapaCity L is great in extreme driving situations, too: with its new Articulation Turntable Controller (ATC) and its ingeniously steered fourth axle, it sets the benchmark for safety and handling.

On 28 November 2008, Omnibus Groß GmbH, based in the town of Rottenburg am Neckar, became the first private bus and coach company in Germany to put the Mercedes-Benz CapaCity high-capacity bus into service. "This highly symbolic move by a private company unquestionably marks the start of an era of innovative local public transport for the town of Tübingen and its neighbouring boroughs", said ministerial head of department Klaus Tappeser at the official presentation.

The Turkish transport operator Istanbul Elektrik Tramvay ve Tünel Isletmeleri (IETT) and the Daimler subsidiary EvoBus GmbH have concluded another contract for the supply of 100 Mercedes-Benz CapaCity buses for the city of Istanbul. IETT had already ordered the first 50 CapaCity buses in mid-2007, and a further 100 buses soon followed during the current year.
