Appearing on posters and vehicles, international top model Julia Stegner and the new Mercedes-Benz CLS 350 Grand Edition have made their impression on Berlin’s cityscape. Now, the two stars finally appeared live in the German capital as they celebrated their premiere at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin. “Mercedes-Benz and fashion are really a perfect match. Both are about exclusive design and image,” remarked Julia Stegner, glancing over at the four-door coupé. At the BOSS Black show yesterday evening, Stegner opened the fourth Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin as the brand ambassador of the international fashion activities of Mercedes-Benz.

  • Stuttgart, Jan 19, 2009 - On 28 November 2008, Omnibus Groß GmbH, based in the town of Rottenburg am Neckar, became the first private bus and coach company in Germany to put the Mercedes-Benz CapaCity high-capacity bus into service. "This highly symbolic move by a private company unquestionably marks the start of an era of innovative local public transport for the town of Tübingen and its neighbouring boroughs", said ministerial head of department Klaus Tappeser at the official presentation.

  • Stuttgart/Dortmund, Jan 16, 2009 - The final four of a total of 24 identical Sprinter Transfer 55 models were handed over at the Dortmund minibus plant on 5 December 2008. Dr Ulrich Hesselmann, managing director of Mercedes-Benz Minibus GmbH, handed over the rural-service minibuses to Ulrich Jäger, managing director of Deutsche Bahn Ostwestfalen-Lippe-Bus (OWL). The 24 Mercedes-Benz minibuses, painted in traffic red, will be used predominantly on school-bus routes in North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony over the coming six years.

  • Istanbul/Mannheim, Dec 18, 2008 - The Turkish transport operator Istanbul Elektrik Tramvay ve Tünel Isletmeleri (IETT) and the Daimler subsidiary EvoBus GmbH have concluded another contract for the supply of 100 Mercedes-Benz CapaCity buses for the city of Istanbul. IETT had already ordered the first 50 CapaCity buses in mid-2007, and a further 100 buses soon followed during the current year.

While the driver is checking the navigation instructions, the front passenger can sit back and watch a film on the very same display. This is made possible by new SPLITVIEW technology which the Stuttgart premium brand is introducing in the S-Class for the first time.

  • Stuttgart, Nov 27, 2008 - On 18 October the workforce at Mercedes-Benz MiniBus GmbH celebrated "10 years of the Mercedes-Benz minibus". EvoBus first entered the minibus segment in 1998, and today the 220 employees of this Dortmund-based company produce around 1200 vehicles annually. This gives the company an approx. 7 percent share of the European bus market for vehicles between 3.5 and 5 t gross vehicle weight. MiniBus GmbH combines line-based series production with the advantages of a high content of craftsmanship.

  • Wörth/Groß-Umstadt, Nov 25, 2008 - According to an expert report by the German Agricultural Society (DLG) in Groß-Umstadt, Hessia, the Mercedes-Benz Unimog proves to be a particularly economical vehicle for e.g. transport tasks and mowing operations. During a transport assignment on level ground, a Mercedes-Benz Unimog U 400 with a trailer load of 21 t consumed only 18.89 litres of fuel per hour, compared to a mean consumption for tractors of 32.07 litres per hour.

  • Stuttgart, Nov 21, 2008 - The winners of this year’s Mercedes-Benz Global TechMasters Trucks were honored at the official award ceremony in the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart on November 20, 2008. The best Mercedes-Benz workshop team for commercial vehicles in 2008 comes from Sweden. Second place went to the team from Italy, third place to the German competitors. For the first time a woman, Ms. Sati Kose of Turkey, has won the designation of best service advisor world wide. Of the competition’s 12,000 participants from 14 countries worldwide, 70 came to Stuttgart for the final round.

In the "XXL over 1,500 m2" category, the "Road to the Future" trade fair stand at the IAA 2007 received a gold ADAM, a coveted German trade fair communications award.

  • Kawasaki, Oct 30, 2008 - Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) today announced that its international sales remained strong through the first three quarters of 2008. Year-to-date through September, the company’s sales outside Japan reached 113,348 units, a 17.4% increase (Jan. – Sept. 2007: 96,556 units). In the third quarter itself, international sales increased slightly to 38,310 units (July – Sept. 2007: 37,971 units).

  • Stuttgart/Abu Dhabi , Oct 24, 2008 - Daimler Buses has been awarded a contract to deliver 100 Mercedes-Benz Citaro city buses to Abu Dhabi. The buses will be used in the public transport system of the city of Al Ain, which has a population of 500,000. Delivery is scheduled to commence in July 2009. Daimler Buses and Abu Dhabi’s Department of Transport have also signed a contract covering comprehensive service and maintenance for the Citaro buses.
