  • Sindelfingen, Nov 30, 2016 - In the presence of the Minister President of the German state of Baden-Württemberg, Winfried Kretschmann, Mercedes-Benz today crashed an E-Class Saloon to mark the opening of what the company describes as the world's ultimate state-of-the-art crash test centre, built at its site in Sindelfingen. The new Vehicle Safety Technology Centre (or TFS, from the German for its name), opens up totally new opportunities, for example for vehicle-vehicle tests, for work on designing assistance systems and PRE SAFE®, and for the validation of vehicle concepts involving alternative drive systems. The investment amounts to a three-digit million euro sum.

  • Lünen/Stuttgart, Nov 3, 2015 - The world's largest 2nd-use battery storage unit will soon go into operation in the Westphalian town of Lünen. A joint venture between Daimler AG, The Mobility House AG and GETEC, it will be operated from the beginning of next year at the site of REMONDIS SE and marketed in the German electricity balancing sector. A special feature of this venture is the use of second-life battery systems from electric vehicles.

  • Berlin, Oct 13, 2015 - Six industrial companies - Air Liquide, Daimler, Linde, OMV, Shell and Total - have formed a cross-sector joint venture, H2 MOBILITY Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG. The creation of the limited partnership paves the way for a staged expansion of hydrogen (H2) filling stations across Germany, which will bring the total to around 400 by 2023.

On 1 August Bettina Fetzer assumed responsibility for the global Product and Brand PR for Mercedes-Benz Cars. This includes the passenger car brands of Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-Maybach, Mercedes-AMG and smart. She has taken over from Christoph Horn, who on 1 September moved to ZF Friedrichshafen AG.

  • Stuttgart/New York, Jun 21, 2015 - Prof. Rodolfo Schöneburg, Head of Vehicle Safety, Durability and Corrosion Protection at Mercedes-Benz Cars, has received – together with Mercedes-Benz engineers Marica Paurevic and Hans Weisbarth – the 2015 IEEE Medal for Environmental and Safety Technologies presented by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). This is in recognition of the seat belt buckle extender developed by Prof. Schöneburg and his team for the S-Class Saloon.

  • Stuttgart, Sep 5, 2014 - Mercedes-Benz sold more vehicles last month than in any previous August. With an increase of 9.7%, 118,887 new vehicles were delivered to customers all over the world. Since the beginning of the year, the Stuttgart-based premium manufacturer has grown unit sales to a new record high of 1,032,410 units (+12.3%). Thus, the company has topped the million mark in unit sales one month earlier than in the previous year.

With 69 g CO2 per kilometre (3 litres/100 km) the S-Class sets a new benchmark for luxury saloons that just a few years ago was thought virtually impossible. The 80-kW electric drive with externally rechargeable battery makes emission-free driving for about 30 km possible.

On January 29, 2011 it will be 125 years to the day when Carl Benz submitted his patent application for the first automobile, the three-wheel “Tricycle”. In parallel, Gottlieb Daimler was developing the first four-wheel motor car. Thus, independently from each other, the two inventors laid the foundation stone for the modern automobile and motorized individual transportation.

  • Stuttgart, Sep 24, 2009 - The Board of Management of Daimler AG has made the following personnel decisions: Effective October 1, 2009, Peter Alexander Trettin (50) will take over the position of Head of Sales Central/Eastern Europe, Africa & Asia. Trettin has been in charge of the Mercedes-Benz Sales Organization Germany (MBVD) since 2007. In his new position, he will succeed to Dr. Joachim Schmidt (61), who will become Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars Sales and Marketing, including responsibility for the sales companies around the world, as of October 1, 2009.
