Mercedes-Benz Cars will also produce the next generation of the C-Class in East London (South Africa) and expands the plant with an investment of 600 Million Euro.

Just four months after the opening of the first Regional Center for Commercial Vehicles in Dubai, Daimler Trucks is driving on with the continued regionalization of its sales and service organization for important emerging markets. With Daimler Commercial Vehicles Africa (DCV Africa) for East, Central, and West Africa and the Regional Center Southern Africa (RCSA) for Southern Africa, an additional two of a total of six regional centers take up their work this week.

In South Africa’s Eastern Cape province, the one millionth passenger car has rolled of the assembly line in the Mercedes-Benz East London plant - a white C-Class Sedan in right-hand drive. The new C Class is being produced in East London since May 2014. It is already the fourth generation of the highest-volume Mercedes-Benz model rolling of the assembly line at this production site. The plant is part of the global production network for the C-Class, which includes the lead plant in Bremen, Germany as well as the production site in Tuscaloosa, Alabama in the USA and the Chinese production site at BBAC in Beijing.

East London, South Africa / Stuttgart, Germany – About three months after the start of production of the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class at the Bremen plant in Germany, the second of the total of four locations started production of the highest volume Mercedes-Benz model line: For the East London plant, this is already the fourth generation of the C-Class. The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan is the first Mercedes-Benz model to be produced on four continents: Bremen and East London will be followed by the plants in Tuscaloosa/Alabama (USA) and Beijing (China) within the next months.
