Under the slogan “Experience success”, Setra of North America returns to this year’s Motorcoach Expo (January 16 - 20, 2008) in San Francisco with two luxury-class S 417 coaches. This year's show is a particular highlight for the Daimler premium brand since San Francisco is after all the “Setra capital”, its home base in the United States. Overall, 12 Setra customers are headquartered in and around San Francisco with a total fleet of over 80 Setra coaches.
Under the motto “Setra - The benchmark in luxury travel” the brand has put together another compelling proposition this year for the U.S. bus and coach industry featuring a raft of innovative equipment options. These include the “TopSky” glass roof, a satellite navigation system, laptop connections for presen­tations via the electrically folding 19-inch monitors. Stylish seats with ambient upholstery also guarantee outstanding seating comfort. State-of-the-art radio and video systems provide crystal-clear 3D stereo while the exclusive galleys with stowage compartments, counter and refrigerated compartments at the rear of the vehicles will cater for all manner of service requirements on long journeys in future.
The vehicles are fitted with the DDC Series 60 339-kW DDEC engine, a passively steered trailing axle with independent wheel suspension and the ZF AS-Tronic automated 12-speed manual transmission. Both coaches comply with the EPA 07 statutory emissions standard.
Setra is also underlining its products' premium aspirations with a show stand whose spacious design and high-quality feel provides the ideal setting for trade visitors to discuss their specific requirements. The two S 417 coaches presented in San Francisco were handed over last November to the two operators “Pro-Tran” and “Arrow Stage Lines” in the new Setra Customer Centre at the company’s production facility in Ulm, Germany. Since the market launch of the S 417 at the Motorcoach Expo 2003 in Orlando, Florida, over 600 vehicles in all have been sold in the USA, Mexico and Canada.
