Mercedes-Benz A and B-Class, GLA


  • The Mercedes-Benz Rastatt plant is the lead plant in the compact vehicle global production network. Other production plants in the network include a Hungarian plant in Kecskemét, a Chinese production site BBAC in Beijing, a joint venture production plant COMPAS in Mexico an a French plant in Hambach.
  • In 2019, the A- and B-Class as well as the GLA were produced at the production plant.
  • There, the first Mercedes-Benz A-Class rolled off the assembly line in 1997 and began the success story of Mercedes-Benz compact cars.
  • The new A-Class Sedan launched in Rastatt in 2019.
  • In 2019, the five-millionth “Made in Rastatt” Mercedes-Benz compact car since the 1997 production launch rolled off the assembly line there.
  • The plant is the largest industrial employer in the region.
  • In future, compact electric vehicles from product and technology brand EQ will also roll off of the plant’s assembly line.
  • Right next to the plant is the Mercedes-Benz Rastatt Customer Centre. Every day, around 250 vehicles are picked up there.
  • Customers can try out the Mercedes-Benz GLA’s off-road capabilities and driver assistance systems at the "A-Rock" driving experience course with an event area, right next to the factory. The site additionally offers space for open-air events and can accommodate up to 7,000 visitors.
