  • Beijing/Stuttgart, Jul 29, 2014 - Mercedes-Benz for the first time has started production of a long-wheelbase version of the C-Class. Not even six months after the start of production of the new C-Class in Bremen, Germany, the first long-wheelbase C-Class model has rolled off its production line at Beijing Benz Automotive Co., Ltd. (BBAC) in China. The model, which will be launched in China starting this September, is an important addition to Mercedes-Benz’ portfolio and marks another key milestone in Daimler’s China strategy.

  • Stuttgart, Apr 24, 2013 - The Daimler AG Board of Management has decided to expand the Mercedes-Benz Cars powertrain production network. Following approval by the Supervisory Board, additional capacities for transmission assembly are now planned to be established at the Romanian Daimler subsidiary, Star Transmission.

  • Stuttgart/Augsburg, Dec 4, 2012 - Daimler AG has set another innovation benchmark by introducing lightweight robots, originally designed for use in outer space, to an industrial environment. The company has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with KUKA AG, a systems integrator and robotics manufacturing company. The partnership focuses on human-robot cooperation to achieve optimizations both for production workers and in manufacturing processes.

  • Tuscaloosa, Alabama, USA, Jun 29, 2012 - Mercedes-Benz today celebrated another milestone as production of the new-generation GL-Class was officially started at the Mercedes-Benz Tuscaloosa plant (MBUSI – Mercedes-Benz U.S. International). Markus Schaefer, President and CEO of MBUSI, welcomed more than 3,500 team members and numerous guests, among them state and local officials, along with Dr. Wolfgang Bernhard, Daimler AG Board of Management member responsible for manufacturing and procurement Mercedes-Benz Cars and Mercedes-Benz Vans.

  • Stuttgart , May 12, 2010 - The Mercedes-Benz Bad Cannstatt plant produces strong personalities: 125 years ago, just a stone’s throw from the plant, in the famous greenhouse, Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach built their “grandfather clock” – the first single-cylinder engine. Today, the Bad Cannstatt plant is home to all Mercedes-Benz V6 and V8 petrol engines. With a workforce of around 900 employees, today the specialist V-engine production facility is a key part of the Mercedes-Benz Cars powertrain production network.

  • Rastatt/Stuttgart, Oct 22, 2009 - Mercedes-Benz is further expanding its center of excellence for compact vehicles by enlarging its Rastatt plant with an investment of 600 million euros. In addition, a further 800 million euros will be invested in a new plant at the Hungarian location of Kecskemét. The Company’s total investments for these two locations thus amount to approximately 1.4 billion euros. The first vehicles of the successor generation to the current A- and B-Class will roll off the assembly lines in Rastatt from the end of 2011.

  • Pune, India, Feb 24, 2009 - Mercedes-Benz India today formally inaugurated its new manufacturing plant in Chakan, Pune. The new facility was completed within 13 months from the start of construction - among the fastest green-field projects to be created. With an area of 100 acres of land and independent assembly facilities for passenger cars and commercial vehicles, the infrastructure was created to address future expansion needs, underscoring the long-term growth plans of the company in India.

  • Stuttgart, Jul 18, 2008 - On July 24, 2008, the Untertürkheim in-line engine plant will celebrate the tenth anniversary of its commissioning. Throughout its ten years of existence, the plant has repeatedly demonstrated its performance capability within Daimler AG’s global production network. Untertürkheim is where the CDI diesel engine began its march to success, setting new standards for self-igniters with its common rail direct injection system.

  • Munich/Stuttgart, Jul 2, 2008 - The international "Innovation and Entrepreneurship Award in Robotics and Automation 2008" goes to the "Montage 21" project of Mercedes-Benz. Stefan Müller, President of the International Federation of Robotics (IFR) and Professor Bruno Siciliano, President of the Robotics & Automation Society (IEEE-RAS), presented the award to Dr Michael Zürn, Thomas Brandstetter and Dr Dieter Steegmüller from Daimler AG.
