On Saturday, July 9, more than 1,000 employees and their family members attended the big Family Day to celebrate the 30th production anniversary of the EvoBus plant in Ligny-en-Barrois, which is in the Lorraine region of eastern France. From 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the plant was transformed into a huge event venue featuring a children’s program, live music on stage, and an exhibition of historical vehicles.

Environmental protection is a top priority at the plant operated by EvoBus GmbH in Neu-Ulm. For years now, the facility has been carrying out numerous projects with the aim of developing environmentally friendly products and production processes. Such efforts not only help the environment but also reduce costs, as evidenced by the fact that the Neu-Ulm plant boasts the lowest energy costs per square meter of all Daimler commercial vehicle plants in Germany. This makes the plant a benchmark in the Group.

Worldwide sales by Daimler Buses in 2007 totaled 39,000 units from the Mercedes-Benz, Setra, and Orion brands, which corresponds to an eight-percent increase from the high sales figure recorded in the prior year. Bus chassis increased its sales by 9.5% to 26,600 (2006: 24,300) units, while complete buses business achieved a sales increase of 4% to 12,400 (2006: 11,900) units.
