Stuttgart/Frankfurt - It is not only in the air but also on the ground that Lufthansa ensures a comfortable and reliable arrival for its passengers. To this end Germany's largest airline will be using touring coaches from the new Setra ComfortClass 500 on the route from Strasbourg to Frankfurt airport in future. Linking Alsace to the Frankfurt hub has an important passenger transport function for the airline.
The owner of the three two-axle S 516 HD coaches, which bear the Lufthansa livery both inside and out, is the Frankfurt-based bus operator TransContinental Tours, "Traco Tours", which will make return journeys on the route twelve times a day on behalf of Lufthansa.
In the process the airline can have complete confidence in the experienced Marc Schaum. The sales manager at Transcontinental Group already has Setra ComfortClass 500 touring coaches in regular operation for other customers. What he finds impressive about its innovative bus concept is the currently unrivalled mix of modern design, cost-effectiveness, technical reliability and highly advanced safety technology: "Our large international customers in the tourist sector particularly appreciate the modern yet dignified appearance of the new vehicle generation. All in all, the ComfortClass 500 offers a powerful package with which our group of companies is well equipped for the future."
Exclusive package of assistance systems ensures safety
The aerodynamically contoured touring coaches have seats for 48 passengers, who can now enjoy the 200-kilometre journey to and from Strasbourg on comfortable Setra Voyage touring seats. A modern audio/video system provides entertainment and information for the passengers, who are also able to rely on numerous onboard safety systems. Also focusing on the issue of safety is the "Assist Systems package" exclusively offered by Setra, which comprises features such as the Lane Assistant, adaptive cruise control, Active Brake Assist (ABA2) with additional stop-and-go function, Attention Assist and also the automatic tyre pressure monitoring system.
The new Setra ComfortClass from Daimler Buses was introduced in 2012, and has demonstrated outstanding energy efficiency in a spectacular Record Run. In mid-October 2013 the new coach generation was voted "Coach of the Year 2014" at Europe's most important bus show in Kortrijk by a panel of experts comprising 19 European bus journalists. In addition the model S 515 HD from the Setra ComfortClass 500 received the "Green Coach Award 2014" from the specialist magazines 'Omnibusrevue' and 'Busfahrer' by virtue of its low fuel consumption.

In addition to operating the Alsace route, the company transports the airline's personnel to the Lufthansa Training & Conference Center in Seeheim-Jugenheim.
