The most votes went to the projects Cabin Spacey from Berlin, Urban Affairs 2016, also from Berlin, and myLike from Munich. Starting in mid-May 2016, the three finalists will present their projects to a wide audience on the international crowdfunding platform Indiegogo.

Historic Heroes' Square in the city centre was the venue for the 15th anniversary of the world's largest international gathering of smart fans. For the first time the smart times participants had an opportunity to tour the city on the Danube by night.

A good week before the launch of the real smart on 22 November the mini fleet has been replaced. A total of 90 new fortwos and 60 new forfours are deployed in the whole miniature layout – for example, at Knuffingen airport, at the smart dealership, on a car train and a truck transporter. Their efforts have borne fruit in the form of three visionary “hero cars” – a Mercedes-Benz and a smart, each perfectly cast in an action thriller, and a Maybach luxury carriage starring in a modern-day fairytale. The futuristic Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrow teams up with two crash test dummies to battle it out with the forces of evil.

  • Stuttgart, Mar 15, 2011 - Always surprisingly different: smart presents an electric two-seater in a glitzy 'disco-ball' look in Berlin. This smart fortwo electric drive is completely covered in reflective glass tiles from the roof to the hub caps and the windows also feature a mirror finish. The one-off model was conceived by the experimental artist formation 'Apparatjik' to be used in a film titled 'Pixel City', realized for their current installation at Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin. The designers at the Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design Studio in Sindelfingen based their design for an unusual smart with four seats for this year's Los Angeles Design Challenge on these principles. The smart 454 is produced by "Smart Granny Robots" (SGR) using weight watch technologies (WWT).

  • Stuttgart / Paris, Sep 24, 2010 - An unusual cooperation project has its world premiere. smart, the packaging specialist CD CARTONDRUCK AG from Obersulm in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, and the Berlin-based artist Sarah Illenberger unveil the first smart fortwo to have its interior and exterior components designed and produced in high-quality recyclable cardboard from the company Gmund. The CARTONDRUCK smart will be on show in Paris at the smart urban stage from 28 to 30 September 2010, in parallel with the Paris Motor Show.

The urban art artists OVNI and Nuria Mora from Spain, Eltono from France, Brazilian Tony de Marco, Tofer Chin from the USA and Superblast from Germany have brightened up the city of 19 million inhabitants with their outsize murals.
