Drive batteries based on lithium-ion technology
Foundation year: 2009
Number of employees: approx 1,300
- Since 2012 Deutsche Accumotive, a wholly owned Mercedes-Benz AG subsidiary, has produced drive batteries for hybrid and electric vehicles for Mercedes-Benz and smart, as well as commercial vehicles at its Kamenz location.
- The Kamenz site comprises two battery factories and is an important part of Mercedes-Benz Cars global battery production network, which has locations on three continents.
- The second battery factory, which began operations in 2018, relies on state-of-the-art systems and uses a wide range of Industry 4.0 technologies. It is also designed to be a CO2-neutral factory: a cogeneration plant and a photovoltaic system combine with geothermal energy to supply the production plants with energy.
- The second factory manufactures, among other things, drive batteries for models from the product and technology brand EQ.
- The extension has quadrupled the production and logistics area in Kamenz to a total of around 80,000 sq. m.
