  • Hanover/Stuttgart, Feb 1, 2016 - Cooperation partners Daimler AG with its wholly owned subsidiary ACCUMOTIVE and enercity (Stadtwerke Hannover AG) will start work on the construction of a new battery storage facility this year. What makes it particularly special is the fact that this is a spare parts storage facility for electromotive battery systems. Around 3000 of the battery modules, determined for the current smart electric drive vehicle fleet, are being pooled to create a stationary storage facility at the enercity site in Herrenhausen.

A joint venture between Daimler AG, The Mobility House AG and GETEC, it will be operated from the beginning of next year at the site of REMONDIS SE and marketed in the German electricity balancing sector. A special feature of this venture is the use of second-life battery systems from electric vehicles.
  • Berlin, Oct 13, 2015 - Six industrial companies - Air Liquide, Daimler, Linde, OMV, Shell and Total - have formed a cross-sector joint venture, H2 MOBILITY Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG. The creation of the limited partnership paves the way for a staged expansion of hydrogen (H2) filling stations across Germany, which will bring the total to around 400 by 2023.

It will already be the fifth time that locally emission-free vehicles will cross the roads of the Austrian Montafon Mountains. This makes the Silvretta E-Auto Rally a somewhat classic. It is also the fifth time that Mercedes-Benz and smart will participate – and with six electric vehicles they will again have the largest fleet of the electric rally.

In the first half of 2013 the electrically powered models from Mercedes-Benz and smart achieved a market share of 42 percent. The absolute leader is the electric smart, which heads the registration list for electric cars with 983 units and a market share of 40 percent. Compared to the previous year, the company has therefore increased its unit sales of electrically powered models in Germany by around 80 percent.

  • Stuttgart/Paris, Sep 17, 2012 - A new addition to Mercedes-Benz's family of electric vehicles: at the Paris Motor Show, the company is presenting a battery-powered electric variant of the B-Class. This concept vehicle is one of the first models to incorporate the term "Electric Drive" into its model designation. In future, "Electric Drive" lettering will adorn the boot lids of all battery-powered electric passenger cars from Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-AMG and smart.
  • Stuttgart, Jul 4, 2012 - Daimler will again have the largest contingent of vehicles at the starting line of the third Silvretta E-Car Rallye, with a total of seven battery and fuel cell-powered electric cars. The event will take place at Montafon, Austria, from 5–7 July 2012. All the Daimler vehicles will cope easily with the tougher conditions of this year’s rallye, including longer distances, large height differentials and even steeper gradients than before. Furthermore, the smart ebike is going to travel parts of the Silvretta rallye route, as well.

To enable all future users of electromobility to access a nationwide charging infrastructure comfortably and securely, BMW Group, Bosch, Daimler, EnBW, RWE, and Siemens have formed a joint venture. Following the announcement of a memorandum of understanding to this effect in January, the six partners have now officially launched their joint venture.
  • Berlin, Dec 7, 2011 - Charging electric cars without an electric cable – how does that work? Daimler AG is about to test inductive charging for the first time on a vehicle in everyday use in the form of a technically modified Mercedes-Benz A-Class. With the inductive charging principle, an electric car fitted with a special charging coil merely has to be positioned over a charging coil in the ground to start the charging process fully automatically, with no need for cable contact.
