  • Stuttgart, Dec 29, 2014 - Daimler Trucks will nearly sell 500,000 trucks in 2014. Despite partly difficult market conditions, the world's leading manufacturer of commercial vehicles succeeded in increasing deliveries to 445,300 units in the first eleven months of 2014, an increase by three percent over the same period last year. Based on first December figures Daimler Trucks assumes to finish 2014 with a considerably positive sales growth reaching nearly 500,000 units.

  • Stuttgart / Portland, USA, Jul 24, 2014 - The first sod has been turned: Daimler’s wholly-owned commercial vehicle subsidiary Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) is starting construction of the new headquarters building on Swan Island in Portland, Oregon. The new building will aid in merging DTNA employees located in separate offices in the Portland region. To this end, Daimler is investing 150 million US dollars to completion in the year 2016.

  • Stuttgart/Portland, Feb 1, 2011 - Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) is the market leader in the segment for heavy-duty trucks of Classes 6 – 8 in the U.S. and in the other areas of the NAFTA region. The company announced that DTNA succeeded in boosting its sales of trucks in Classes 6 – 8 in 2010 in the NAFTA region to over 67,800 units. This takes DTNA’s market share to 31.6 percent. The manufacturer increased its market share by two percentage points compared to 2009, when it sold about 55,200 trucks.

  • Redford, Michigan, Jun 18, 2010 - Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) announced today that it will invest $194 million (approximately €157 million) in the Detroit Diesel engine production facility in Redford, Michigan. The investment will be supported by a variety of state and local incentives. These incentives include a Michigan Economic Growth Authority Award of $56.8 million (approximately €46 million), which is granted by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, as well as other state and local tax credits and abatements.

  • High Point, N.C., May 14, 2010 - Thomas Built Buses, DTNA’s school bus manufacturer, now offers all of its school buses with BlueTec. DTNA introduced the SCR exhaust emission control technology known as BlueTec because it has proven to be the most effective solution for reducing pollutant emissions. It therefore optimally satisfies the EPA 2010 emissions standard, which took effect in the U.S. at the start of this year. Thomas Built Buses has already sold more than 1,500 BlueTec-equipped school buses. Customers in 44 states and five Canadian provinces have ordered the BlueTec buses.

The North American truck market once again contracted significantly last year, while the structural downward trend continued on the Japanese truck market, with the situation there exacerbated by the global economic crisis.

  • Portland, USA, Jan 29, 2010 - The entire family of engines made by Detroit Diesel Corporation (DDC) has been certified by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the U.S. as being in compliance with the EPA 2010 emissions standard, which took effect at the start of this year. EPA 2010 is the world’s most stringent emissions standard. This certification cleared the way for the market launch of the DDC engines with SCR (selective catalytic reduction) technology — after years of research and 28 million miles of successful testing.

Martin Daum will replace Chris Patterson, who will reach the age of 55 this year and has chosen to retire after 32 years of service to the North American commercial vehicle industry, 11 of them with Daimler Trucks North America. Daum is currently Head of Operations at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Woerth (Germany).

  • Gaffney/Stuttgart, May 14, 2008 - The largest order of alternative-fuel and drive-train commercial vehicles to-date was placed with DTNA’s Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation (FCCC) today by UPS. The order, consisting of 200 hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) and 300 compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles, is being manufactured on FCCC’s walk-in van MT45 and MT55 chassis product line.
