Stuttgart/Cologne. Stuttgart-based Daimler AG plans to present three vehicles from its current range of premium buses at the 40th RDA Workshop in Cologne (29 - 31 July 2014). At its joint stand with Mercedes-Benz, Setra, the brand from Neu-Ulm, will be showcasing the S 516 HDH luxury coach from its new TopClass 500. The brand with the star will be represented in Cologne by the Travego coach and the Sprinter Travel 65.
The Setra S 516 HDH – the new touring coach for a unique travel experience
With the S 516 HDH, Setra is putting the spotlight on a high-ranking member of its new TopClass 500 family. The 4-star top-class coach offers 50 passengers comfortable accommodation in "Setra Voyage Supreme" seats with fabric-leather combinations. A unique view is afforded by the TopSky Panorama tinted glass roof. With just one percent light transmission, this optional extra from Setra represents an innovation in European bus construction. Owing its tremendous power to an eco-friendly Mercedes-Benz OM 471 BlueEfficiency Power six-cylinder in-line engine with an output of 375 kW (510 hp), the three-axle coach boasts every safety and assistance system currently available on the bus market.
With its TopClass 500, Setra presents a generation of touring coaches that casts a new light on design, quality and safety while combining an elegant equipment specification with outstanding economy. Just a short time after a successful start to series production in spring 2014, the new Setra flagship received a globally recognised seal of quality, the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2014.
The Travego – the top model in Mercedes-Benz's bus fleet
The Travego that will be on show in Cologne is a 12-metre-long jewel that unites technical refinement and supreme economy with outstanding ride comfort for a total of 49 passengers plus driver. Mercedes-Benz will present the top-of-the-line model from its bus fleet with an OM 470 BlueEfficiency Power engine with an output of 315 kW paired with a Mercedes-Benz GO 250-8 MPS automated 8-speed manual transmission. The coach comes, among other things, with ABA emergency brake assist.
Sprinter Travel 65 with new "Travel Star Xtra" passenger seats
The Sprinter Travel 65 minibus, the top model from Mercedes-Benz's line-up of coaches under 8 tonnes gross vehicle weight, will be on view in Cologne with new "Travel Star Xtra" passenger seats featuring Luxline upholstery. The vehicle will additionally sport a wraparound windscreen, double-glazed side windows, bus rear wall with generously dimensioned luggage compartment flap, outward-swinging door, heating system convectors, air-sprung rear axle, retarder and suspension seat for the driver. The optional extras on show in Cologne on the over seven-metre-long 15-seater will include bi-xenon headlamps, reversing camera, audio DVD system, passenger compartment air conditioner, refrigerator and courier's seat.
