Daimler AG has honoured the performance of its logistics partners for complete vehicles and has bestowed the European Carrier Award 2013 on the best companies. The prizes were handed over yesterday by Heiko Gaiser, Head of Global Transport Logistics, and Egon Christ, Head of Global Transport Logistics for Complete Vehicles, as part of European Carrier Day, which this year was held at the Mercedes-Benz Kecskemét plant in Hungary.

The Mercedes-Benz M-Class has succeeded in passing what is now the stricter crash test carried out by the American Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), picking up the "Top Safety Pick+" (TSP+) award in the process. The premium SUV already received five stars in the U.S. NCAP and Euro NCAP tests in 2012. As a result of this latest award, the M-Class has again achieved the best marks and defended its leading position in three of the world's most important and most demanding safety ratings.

The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class has taken no less than two first places in the 2013 Automotive Brand Contest: Both the exterior and the interior design received the "Best of Best" award. In addition the jury consisting of world-leading design experts voted the Burmester® high-end 3D surround sound system a "winner" amongst others. The Automotive Brand Contest is organised by the well-known "Rat für Formgebung" (Design Council). The awards will be presented at the Automotive Designers Night which will take place on the first press day at the Frankfurt International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt.

With the "2012 Green GOOD DESIGN" award, the "Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design" has paid tribute to the one-off Mercedes-Benz BIOME and smart forvision vehicles, as well as the smart ebike. The jury praised the exceptionally environmentally-friendly and sustainable designs of these vehicles in particular. In the "Automotive Brand Contest 2012" meanwhile – held by the German Design Council – Mercedes-Benz has made it onto the list of winners no less than 16 times.

Four first places for Mercedes-Benz: this is the result of the latest survey on driver satisfaction conducted by world renowned market research company J.D. Power and Associates. Vehicles emerging as clear winners in their categories include the A-Class, C-Class and the E-Class. In addition, Mercedes-Benz also took overall first place in the study among all brands. The AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine took away two top accolades as part of the coveted "International Engine of the Year Awards 2010": the high-revving naturally aspirated engine developing up to 386 kW/525 hp comfortably took top spot in the "Best Performance Engine" and "Above 4 litres" categories. This is the second year running that the eight-cylinder engine from AMG has beaten off the competition.
