Mercedes-Benz Museum with admission free on Mai 19: International Museum Day – Final of the VfB special exhibition

May 2019

The 19th of May 2019 is International Museum Day and also the 13th anniversary of the Mercedes-Benz Museum. To mark the occasion, admission is free for all visitors! It is also the last opportunity for museum guests to visit the special exhibition entitled "On the move since 1893" in light of the 125-year history of VfB Stuttgart. The exhibition is drawing to a close after a runtime of approximately eight months.

Stuttgart. On Sunday, 19 May 2019, the Mercedes-Benz Museum will be 13 years old. The facility is an international attraction that is a constant buzz of activity: Since it opened on 19 May 2006, it has seen the better part of ten million visitors from all over the world. The theme titled "Museums - The Future of Living Tradition" chosen for International Museum Day 2019 perfectly complements this institution. After all, the permanent exhibition of the Mercedes-Benz Museum ─ which includes over 160 vehicles and some 1,500 exhibits ─ reaches back to the beginnings of the automobile as well as covering the future of mobility. On 19 May, admission to the museum will be free of charge.

19 May is also the last chance to visit the special exhibition entitled "On the move since 1893" on the occasion of VfB Stuttgart's anniversary – likewise free of charge. In the Collection 5 room, the sports club documents its varied and diverse tradition of 125 years with a presentation never before shown with this level of detail. Many exhibits offer a retrospective view of exceptionally exciting moments, such as during the five DFB championships in 1950, 1952, 1984, 1992 and 2007 and the celebratory parade of fans driving their cars through Stuttgart.

The museum also offers the following between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.:

  • A chance to meet "Fritzle", the VfB mascot
  • Free guided tours for children and adults
  • Children's programme (from 8 years): Construction of a four-stroke engine (with kit)
  • Wheel of fortune prizes and discounts in the museum shop

The Mercedes-Benz Museum is open Tuesdays to Sundays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The ticket desk always closes at 5 p.m. Registration, reservations and latest information: Monday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. by phone on +49 (0)711 173 0000, by email to or online at:
