  • Stuttgart, Dec 10, 2007 - A new type of assistance system, designed by Mercedes-Benz to warn the driver of tiredness and the dreaded phenomenon of nodding off at the wheel is now undergoing a final test phase. The system uses various sensors to analyse driving behaviour and recognises tiredness-related changes in the driver’s personal driving style. In this event the driver is prompted to take a break. Once all of the tests have been completed, the system will go into series production at Mercedes-Benz in 2009.

  • Stuttgart/Washington, D.C., Dec 4, 2007 - At a traditional luncheon with prominent speakers hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, Daimler Chairman Dr. Dieter Zetsche today presented the smart fortwo to representatives of U.S. businesses and government as an environmentally friendly solution for future mobility. Starting in January, the compact model, which has already been very successful in Europe with about 850,000 units sold, will also be available in the U.S.

  • Salzburg/Ulm, Nov 21, 2007 - Setra Coaches, the premium coach brand of Daimler AG, has delivered its 500th S 411 HD coach. The customer, the "Fischwenger" coach company based in Straßwalchen near Salzburg, took delivery of this comfortable TopClass 400-series coach on November 2 in a special handover ceremony which was held in Salzburg on the occasion of the Setra Show 2007.

  • Stuttgart, Nov 12, 2007 - Daimler is promoting measures for drastically reducing the emissions and fuel consumption of commercial vehicles. To mark the launch of the Shaping Future Transportation initiative, Daimler Trucks and Daimler Buses today presented 16 trucks and buses featuring alternative drive systems and fuels. The vehicles from Freightliner, Mitsubishi Fuso, Mercedes-Benz, Orion and Thomas Built Buses were exhibited at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, and included models making their world debut as well as vehicles that are already being used by customers.

Ltd., today handed over keys of the locally assembled Mercedes-Benz Actros trucks to its first batch of customers and thus reinforces its presence in the Indian commercial vehicles market. Targeted at heavy mining applications, the first batch of locally assembled Actros 4840K rolled out from the Mercedes-Benz plant in Pune today.

  • Stuttgart/Bucharest, Oct 1, 2007 - The Romanian bus operator Regia Autonoma de Transport Bucuresti (R.A.T.B) and the DaimlerChrysler subsidiary EvoBus GmbH signed a contract in mid-September 2007 for the delivery of a second batch of 500 urban buses for the city of Bucharest. At the end of 2006, the Romanian capital had already ordered 500 Mercedes-Benz Citaro city buses, of which the last units were delivered last summer.

  • Stuttgart, Sep 28, 2007 - As a highly versatile distribution vehicle, the Mercedes-Benz Atego has to deliver its cargo in inner-city areas. It is therefore all the more important that, like its “big brothers” the Axor and Actros, it is now already available with Blue-Tec 5 technology. Compared with today’s Euro 4 emissions standard, this means a further 43% reduction in nitrogen oxide emissions (NOx). Thanks to the new Blue-Tec diesel technology, the Atego’s emissions of particulate matter have now also been slashed dramatically.

  • East London/Stuttgart, Sep 7, 2007 - Mercedes-Benz has launched series production of the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan in its plant in East London, South Africa. Thabo Mbeki, President of the Republic of South Africa, visited the plant on Thursday to celebrate the production start and investments into the new facility.   • Stuttgart, Jul 19, 2007 - Mercedes-Benz' most successful authorised workshop in the truck tyre service sector is Autohaus Velte in Biedenkopf near Marburg in the German state of Hesse, an outlet which last year sold 540 large truck tyres (17.5 inches and above). In recognition of this achievement, the DaimlerChrysler German sales organisation (DCVD) has awarded the company the "Best DCVD truck tyre service partner" cup which was specially created in its honour.
