  • Stuttgart, Apr 4, 2008 - Shortly after being updated, the Mercedes-Benz M-Class has come first in one of the most prestigious readers’ votes in the off-road and SUV world. Readers of the motoring magazine "AUTO BILD Allrad" have given this successful trendsetter among today's SUVs the accolade of "Car of the Year 2008" in the category covering off-roaders and SUVs costing between 40,000 and 60,000 euros. The same honour was accorded the Mercedes-Benz GL, which continues to occupy the peak position in the market segment for luxurious Sports Utility Vehicles.

  • Stuttgart, Apr 1, 2008 - The smart fortwo continues its string of successes. Since the end of March 2007, the new model of the innovative two-seater has been purchased by a total of 100,000 customers, representing a sales increase of more than 80 percent. Yesterday afternoon, Ulrich Kowalewski, director of the Mercedes-Benz Center Munich handed over the 100,000th second-generation smart fortwo to a 36-year-old customer in the recently re-opened smart Center Munich.

At the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS), the three-pointed star is presenting three new, exceptionally clean diesel SUVs with the latest AdBlue injection technology. The ML 320 BlueTEC, the R 320 BlueTEC and the GL 320 BlueTEC boast such low emissions that they comply with even the strictest exhaust limits such as the Bin 5 and ULEV standards in the U.S.

  • Stuttgart, Mar 14, 2008 - After three successful years, Mercedes-Benz has overhauled the design and engineering of the B-Class. The facelift programme focused on environmental compatibility, economic efficiency and comfort, with further advances being made in each of these areas. Thanks to a series of detailed improvements, the four-cylinder engines now burn up to seven percent less fuel than previously, and distinguish themselves with remarkably low exhaust emissions that undercut the current EU limits by as much as 90 percent.

The new generation of the dynamic, stylish SUV now has even more distinctive characteristics, and looks even sportier and more powerful. The front end of this off-roader is now defined by a redesigned bumper, recontoured headlamps and a larger, even more dominant radiator. The rear view also sports a new-look bumper with integrated reflector strips, emphasising the vehicle's width, as well as tails lights with a smoked-glass look.

  • Stuttgart, Mar 11, 2008 - Worldwide sales by Daimler Buses in 2007 totaled 39,000 units from the Mercedes-Benz, Setra, and Orion brands, which corresponds to an eight-percent increase from the high sales figure recorded in the prior year. Bus chassis increased its sales by 9.5% to 26,600 (2006: 24,300) units, while complete buses business achieved a sales increase of 4% to 12,400 (2006: 11,900) units.

  • Stuttgart/Mannheim, Feb 29, 2008 - The Mercedes-Benz Citaro has attained a new manufacturing milestone with the production of the 20,000th model. Michael Göpfarth, Head of the Mercedes-Benz Bus and Coach Unit of EvoBus GmbH, handed over the landmark vehicle to Hermann Pflieger, the owner of Pflieger Reise- und Verkehrs GmbH in Böblingen. This company operates two dozen routes within the Stadtverkehr Böblingen-Sindelfingen (SBS) [Böblingen-Sindelfingen urban transport] network, itself part of the Verkehrs- und Tarifverbund Stuttgart (VVS) [Stuttgart transit and tariff association], and employs more than 120 staff. With a fleet of some 90 buses and coaches, including many Mercedes-Benz Citaro models, the 82-year-old company operates regular-service routes and is also active in the touring and excursion sectors.

  • Stuttgart, Feb 18, 2008 - Mitsubishi Fuso Europe increased unit sales by 9.9% to 10,200 vehicles of the Canter model series in 2007 (2006: 9,300), thereby selling more vehicles than ever before in Europe since Daimler obtained a majority interest in Mitsubishi Fuso. This success in Europe also contributed to the sales record set by Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) in its export markets, where sales increased by 16.6%.

  • Stuttgart, Feb 6, 2008 - The Mercedes-Benz Cars division delivered 90,400 vehicles to customers all over the world in January 2008 (January 2007: 77,700). Sales of the Mercedes-Benz, AMG, Maybach, and smart brands thus rose by 16 percent to set a new record. The Mercedes-Benz brand alone delivered a record-breaking 82,300 passenger cars in January, an increase of 12 percent on the figure for January 2007 (73,500 vehicles).

After initial demonstrations of the Unimog U 20 with summer-service implements at the Demopark show in Eisenach in June 2007, the latest addition to the Unimog family has now completed its ice and snow test following a tour of German ski resorts. The Unimog U 20 will be widely available, with deliveries set to commence before the end of this quarter.

  • Stuttgart, Jan 30, 2008 - At the World Mobility Forum the Mercedes-Benz Citaro G BlueTec Hybrid urban bus was presented with the 2008 DEKRA environmental award. Clemens Klinke, Chairman of the Board of Management of DEKRA Automobil GmbH, presented the award to Andreas Renschler, member of the Daimler AG Board of Management with responsibility for Daimler Trucks & Daimler Buses, commenting that: "We have awarded the 2008 DEKRA environmental prize for this bus-drive technology because it makes an innovative and lasting contribution to the quality of life of our urban population".

  • Stuttgart, Jan 29, 2008 - Deutsche Post World Net is the first logistics company in Europe to trial hybrid trucks in its operations. The go-ahead for the largest fleet test in the company’s history was given on January 29, 2008 during the World Mobility Forum in Stuttgart. Andreas Renschler, member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Daimler Trucks, today handed over the first two vehicles, a Mercedes-Benz Atego BlueTec Hybrid and a Mitsubishi Fuso Canter Eco Hybrid, to Deutsche Post World Net.

  • Neu-Ulm , Jan 11, 2008 - Some 2100 customers from 21 European countries attended the 15th International Used Bus Fair (IGOM), which took place on the EvoBus bus and coach assembly site from January 4 to 6. Despite current shortages in the used vehicle market, consolidating the stocks of the Setra Used Vehicle Centre (GWC), independent used bus dealers, Setra general distributors and EvoBus subsidiaries enabled an attractive range of around 200 buses and coaches to be presented in Neu-Ulm.
