  • Stuttgart, Apr 5, 2011 - Mercedes-Benz substantially boosted sales in the first quarter, increasing deliveries by 12.7 percent to 280,552 units worldwide (Q1 2010: 248,958 units). Sales of the brand rose once again in March, increasing by 7.7 percent despite having already achieved a high sales level in the same month last year. Mercedes-Benz sold a total of 118,357 passenger vehicles in March (March 2010: 109,882 units).

  • Stuttgart/Portland, Feb 1, 2011 - Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) is the market leader in the segment for heavy-duty trucks of Classes 6 – 8 in the U.S. and in the other areas of the NAFTA region. The company announced that DTNA succeeded in boosting its sales of trucks in Classes 6 – 8 in 2010 in the NAFTA region to over 67,800 units. This takes DTNA’s market share to 31.6 percent. The manufacturer increased its market share by two percentage points compared to 2009, when it sold about 55,200 trucks.

  • Stuttgart/Bonn, Dec 22, 2010 - In its biggest order in Germany this year, Mercedes-Benz Vans will deliver a total of 1,300 Mercedes-Benz Sprinters to Deutsche Post DHL. Delivery of the Sprinters to the customer commenced in December 2010, and the last vehicles are scheduled to go into operation in one year’s time. Mercedes-Benz Vans won over the customer by offering the most economical solution and the best technology, putting it far ahead of the competition. The first vehicles were officially handed over today by Volker Mornhinweg, Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans, to Thomas Zuber, Head of the Letter and DHL Parcel Delivery unit at Deutsche Post DHL.

Last month Mercedes-Benz recorded the best October of all time in Korea, with sales rising by 42 percent to 1,200 units. Vehicle deliveries have doubled since the beginning of the year, increasing to 13,500 units (January–October 2009: 6,800). As a result, Mercedes-Benz grew more than the import market as a whole, which increased by around 50 percent. Mercedes-Benz has boosted sales in South Korea each year since 2000. In 2009, it sold almost 9,000 units, or nine times as many as ten years ago.

Deliveries once again showed double-digit growth, with a gain of 14 percent. This means that Mercedes-Benz also recorded strong growth last month compared to the prior year, even though sales had grown again in October 2009 for the first time following the crisis, particularly in the United States. A total of 954,400 Mercedes-Benz brand vehicles have been delivered to customers since the beginning of this year, up 16 percent over the figure for January to October 2009 (826,000 units).

Following the steep decline of the global market in 2009, this year’s IAA marks a positive turning point for Daimler, as sales at Daimler Trucks were around one-third higher through August 2010 than in the same period last year. Today, the joint venture contract was signed in the presence of German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the Premier of the People’s Republic of China Wen Jiabao. The approval for the deal was granted by the relevant Chinese government authority.
