She studied law at the universities in Berlin and Freiburg. Sibylle Wankel has been active in trade unions since 1991 and has worked for IG Metall since 1997. iIn May 2016, she became General Counsel of the IG Metall Board of Management in Frankfurt.

  • Beijing, Sep 5, 2016 - Daimler held its first China Hackathon in Beijing on September 3rd and 4th. A total of 75 participants were invited to develop creative ideas and code prototypes related to automotive e-commerce within a given timeframe of 26 hours.

April hat die Bildungsinitiative „Genius – die junge WissensCommunity von Daimler“ 130 Lehrerinnen und Lehrern im Mercedes-Benz Werk Bremen die Unterrichtseinheit „Antriebstechnik – Verbrennungsmotor, Elektroantrieb, Brennstoffzelle“ vorgestellt. Die Fortbildung richtete sich zum ersten Mal an Lehrkräfte aus der Hansestadt Bremen und Niedersachsen, die in Grundschulen und der Sekundarstufe I (Klassen fünf bis zehn) in den sogenannten „MINT“-Fächern unterrichten. „MINT“ steht für die Disziplinen Mathematik, Informatik, Naturwissenschaft und Technik.

  • Kassel, Apr 18, 2016 - Am 18. April beginnen sechs Flüchtlinge und Asylbewerber ein sogenanntes Brückenpraktikum im Mercedes-Benz Werk Kassel. Die Teilnehmer wurden von der Bundesagentur für Arbeit und dem Jobcenter Kassel ausgewählt. Sie stammen aus Syrien und dem Irak und sind zwischen 21 und 36 Jahre alt. Neben einem praktischen Teil in der Ausbildungswerkstatt, der mechanischen Fertigung und Montage sowie der Logistik besuchen die Praktikanten täglich einen Deutschkurs. Ziel ist, die Teilnehmer nach dem Brückenpraktikum an Unternehmen, Zeitarbeitsfirmen oder in eine Berufsausbildung zu vermitteln.

  • Stuttgart, Apr 10, 2016 - How do health and mobility fit together? Will autonomous cars become moving fitness rooms? How do smart homes communicate with our cars? At the first Daimler hackathon this year around 50 students worked on the topic health & mobility as well as smart home & mobility. The aim of the party for coders and web designers was to develop and program innovative ideas within 24 hours and verify their potential with the jury. The term hackathon combines the words „hacking“ and „marathon“ what explains why fun with coding, perseverance, team spirit and little sleep are part of the program.

Nearly all 40 participants of the first program will receive offers from temporary employment agencies for continued employment in industry or in a particular trade or craft or will get a vocational training opportunity at Daimler. "We are highly satisfied with the result of the first bridge internship. We achieved our goal of paving people's way into the labor market for almost all participants. This success reaffirms our decision to offer more bridge internships.

  • Stuttgart, Feb 4, 2016 - Daimler is sharing the reward of the successful 2015 financial year with its employees by paying the highest profit-sharing bonus in the company's history. The Board of Management and General Works Council resolved to pay a profit-sharing bonus of up to EUR 5,650 to all qualifying tariff-scale employees. Thus, the highest profit-share, which was paid in the last year, with 4,350 euros, will be clearly surpassed.

  • Stuttgart, Oct 13, 2015 - Daimler is launching so called `bridge internships´ for refugees. As of November 9, about 40 participants will be starting fourteen-week `bridge internships´ at the Mercedes-Benz Plant in Stuttgart. The internships are organized with the German Federal Employment Agency and the Stuttgart Job Center. The refugees will learn basic practical skills for work in industrial production and will attend German courses every day. The participants will be selected at the end of October by the German Federal Employment Agency and the Stuttgart Job Center.

Prof. Dr. Hans Georg Engel follows Klaus Mannsperger as the head of Daimler’s Chinese R&D facilities. In his new position, Engel will oversee a growing number of departments and functions with a broad range of research and development activities: apart from the current responsibilities, this new role now also includes program management, procurement, and supplier quality management, which are essential levers in successful product development.
