Blaguss drives towards future with new Setra bus generation

New buses with a new company design. True to its guiding principle that everyone has goals (“Weil jeder Ziele hat”), the Viennese bus company “Blaguss” has reinforced its claim to operate exclusive and innovative touring coaches by investing in the S 515 HD. The Vienna-based large fleet operator decided to introduce a change of generation with the two-axle vehicle and took delivery of its first vehicle in the new Setra ComfortClass 500.

Setra secures largest ever order from Sweden

It is the largest order which the Setra Bus and Coach unit has ever received from Sweden. The bus brand of Stuttgart-based Daimler AG is to deliver 65 vehicles from the Setra MultiClass 400 series for use on school and regular bus services in the Scandinavian country. Delivery of the two-axle S 416 UL and three-axle S 417 UL for the region of Region Kronoberg extends over a ten-year period, with the first buses being delivered in June 2013.

Regular-service operation with Mercedes-Benz fuel-cell buses

– A secured hydrogen infrastructure is a prerequisite for the successful launch of environment- and resource-friendly fuel-cell technology in mobile use. The commissioning of the hydrogen filling station by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) on its Campus North site coincides with the start of operations for the shuttle service planned for students and employees, in the form of two Mercedes-Benz Citaro FuelCELL Hybrid fuel-cell buses. Ulrich Piotrowski, Head of Sales Mercedes-Benz Buses Region West, was present at the inauguration of the filling station on 11 June and officially sent the shuttle vehicles into regular-service operation.

Major Order for Daimler Buses: 134 Mercedes-Benz Chassis for South Africa

Mercedes-Benz South Africa (MBSA) has been awarded the contract for the Rea Vaya 1B Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project. The South African subsidiary bid on the contract via the Sandown Motors dealership company, in which MBSA has a majority interest. The order covers 134 Euro V-compliant Mercedes-Benz chassis that will be shipped as completely knocked down sets (CKD) from Mercedes-Benz do Brasil. The CKD units will then be assembled at the Mercedes-Benz plant in East London, South Africa.

The 2014 World Soccer Championship gradually approaches and metropolitan cities in Brazil are preparing themselves for the rise in traffic volumes during the mega sports event with infrastructural projects and fleet renewals. As part of this, Daimler´s subsidiary Mercedes-Benz do Brasil has received large orders for a total of 80 Mercedes-Benz buses. The buses are equipped with environmentally friendly BlueTec 5-technology and meet the PROCONVE P-7 exhaust standard.

The objective seemed impossible: a simultaneous reduction in fuel consumption and exhaust emissions while meeting Euro VI emission standards. In the Record Run Buses 2012 the new Euro VI-certified Mercedes-Benz Citaro urban regular-service bus and the new Setra ComfortClass 500 touring coach demonstrated that the two seemingly conflicting goals can be achieved at the same time. During the Record Run Buses 2012 the five buses covered a total distance of 18,000 kilometres under impartial supervision.

The success story of the current Mercedes-Benz minibus generation started in 2006. The line-up features four model series: Sprinter Transfer, Sprinter Travel, Sprinter City and Sprinter Mobility with a total of 14 basic models. The minibuses developed for use in urban, rural and touring-coach service as well as for services for passengers with restricted mobility are based on the current generation Sprinter. Mercedes-Benz Minibus GmbH, a fully owned subsidiary of EvoBus GmbH, produces the Mercedes minibuses in Dortmund.
