PostAuto Schweiz AG has become the first company in Switzerland to deploy fuel-cell technology for public road transport. Since the end of 2011, five Mercedes-Benz Citaro FuelCELL Hybrid models have been serving on routes in and around Brugg (in the canton of Aargau) as PostAuto vehicles. Wiesbaden-based ESWE has today taken delivery of a Mercedes-Benz Citaro meeting the future Euro VI emission standard in a handover ceremony attended by Dr. Helmut Müller, Lord Mayor of the provincial capital of Wiesbaden. A further two vehicles are due to be delivered in the next few days. These are the first series production buses to go into operation featuring the clean technology.
Another great leap forward for the global bestseller among regular-service buses: the Mercedes-Benz Citaro has just extended its lead over the competition with a completely new engine generation. This makes the Citaro the first regular-service bus to be fitted and supplied with Euro VI engines as standard, and the world’s cleanest-running diesel regular-service bus. A raft of further innovations have reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, successfully offsetting the extra weight involved in meeting the Euro VI exhaust emissions standard.
The new ComfortClass 500 generation of touring coaches sends a very clear message at first glance: this is a Setra bus with a dynamic, self-confident look, one that earns top marks for comfort and safety, and redefines the tour bus premium segment. The two-axle model S 515 HD, the two- and three-axle S 516 HD and the three-axle S 517 HD will all be launched in the autumn of 2012. They are distinguished by the systematic refinements in design that continue to bridge the gap between traditional and modern bus values.
