Mercedes-Benz Bank lowers insurance premiums for safe trucks
Mercedes-Benz Bank is rewarding truck owners in Germany who install safety s stems in their vehicles with a discount of up to ten percent on insurance premiums. The offer, which applies to the Atego, Axor, Actros, and Actros tractor models, is targeted mainly at freight-forwarding companies and factory transport units. Customers who install Safety Pack Classic or Active Brake Assist receive a five percent discount on premiums for liability and full coverage policies, while those who purchase a Top Safety Package are given a ten percent discount.
Mercedes-Benz Bank is also offering an additional ten percent discount especially to customers of the new Actros in Germany who opt for a leasing or financing package from the bank by June 30, 2009. Such a contract, combined with one of the safety packages, can lead to savings of as much as €948 per year.
The bank’s truck insurance policies also offer a further advantage in the form of a bonus and surcharge system that enables customers to insure their vehicles at a favorable unit premium regardless of their no-claims discount classification.
The bonus component works as follows: If no damage claims are filed for an entire calendar year, the premium for the following year is reduced by 25 percent. And if no damage claims are filed in the calendar year after that, the customer continues to pay the low premium. However, if a claim has to be paid out during a calendar year, the premium for the following year is increased by 50 percent. If no damage claims are filed in the following year, the customer no longer has to pay the surcharge.
