The Setra brand of DaimlerChrysler Buses & Coaches is presenting its current product range of ten buses and coaches in Hall 16 at this year’s International Commercial Vehicle Fair (IAA) in Hanover (September 21-29, 2006). The highlight is the world debut of the new, low-floor S 415 NF inter-urban bus in the MultiClass 400 series. All the vehicles displayed feature BlueTec diesel technology based on SCR with a downstream catalytic converter, and comply with the new Euro 4 legislation.
Setra spokesman Werner Staib: "With these new-generation vehicles, we are extending our range with further tailor-made products in the inter-urban regular service and excursion sectors for our customers throughout Europe." The market launch of the low-floor generation completes the changeover of the entire model range to the 400 series. Around 23,000 touring coaches and inter-urban buses in the preceding 300 series were sold, and 6000 buses and coaches belonging to the 400 series are already in operation on the roads of Europe.
But it is not only the new "stars" in the MultiClass 400 series that are at centre-stage. In addition to the new low-floor variant, Setra is also showing the 10.80-metre long S 412 UL, the compact addition to the inter-urban series, as a world premiere. This particular vehicle features an angled touring coach front end, while onboard equipment includes a fire detection system in the engine and luggage compartments, as well as an accident data recorder. Setra is also exhibiting a S 415 UL with a length of 12.20 metres and an upright front end, as well as a 14.98-metre long S 419 UL. The three vehicles on display at the fair are equipped with different engine and seating variants.
TopClass 400: Innovative, luxurious and safe
With the four touring coach models S 411 HD, S 415 HD, S 416 HDH and S 431 DT in the TopClass 400 series, all of them with innovative safety features and high-quality interior fittings, Setra is once again reinforcing its status as the premium touring coach brand. One of the highlights is a "VIP Edition" S 416 HDH. This three-axle model shown in Hanover features a glass roof, 2+1 seating, a leather interior, a level wood floor and an exclusively appointed galley in the rear. This four-star coach will undoubtedly capture the enthusiasm of its passengers, as it has the very latest multimedia equipment in the form of a WLAN Internet link, i-pod connections, subwoofers and 10“ monitors.
ComfortClass 400: Economically attractive
Safety, mature technology and outstanding comfort are also assured by the economically attractive vehicles of the ComfortClass 400 series. This model series for combined touring and inter-urban operations is represented by an S 415 GT-HD and an S 416 GT-HD at the International Commercial Vehicle Fair.
"Experiencing success" in Hall 16
