Nick Knight, one of the 21st Century’s most influential and innovative fashion pho-tographers, provides a spectacular example of Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to fa-shion in his presentation of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. With a completely open brief, Knight has collaborated with British fashion designer Gareth Pugh and Ger-man model Julia Stegner to combine design, fashion and technology in a uniquely powerful visual campaign.

Matthias Schweighöfer is celebrating success as an actor, as a fashion designer, he’s just taking his first steps. In collaboration with designer Kilian Kerner, German MTV moderator Joko Winterscheidt and Sebastian Radlmeier from Paso Music, Schweighöfer has founded the t-shirt label German Garment.

Three professions – one passion: high-quality and exclusive design. At Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin, Strenesse fashion designer Gabriele Strehle and Oliver Bierhoff, manager of Germany’s national soccer team, discovered with Gorden Wagener, head of Mercedes-Benz design, how modern automotive design works. At the Mercedes-Benz designo stand, Wagener’s team of designers created a likeness of the new E-Class Coupé by arranging strips of coloured adhesive tape on a large display.

The fifth edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin has started with a bang. The first day of Germany’s most important fashion event saw a unique fusion of fashion and automobile. At Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin, expectations for creativity, individuality and exclusivity go beyond what appears on the catwalk. Also at the Mercedes-Benz designo stand in the lobby of the event tent, there’s a lot of hustle and bustle. Numerous visiting celebrities, such as Julia Stegner and Boris Becker, are taking a peek behind the curtains of automotive design, and are discovering what the creative processes of fashion and automotive design have in common.

Their presence has already been felt all over town for several days. Appearing on posters and vehicles, international top model Julia Stegner and the new Mercedes-Benz CLS 350 Grand Edition have made their impression on Berlin’s cityscape. Now, the two stars finally appeared live in the German capital as they celebrated their premiere at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin. “Mercedes-Benz and fashion are really a perfect match. Both are about exclusive design and image,” remarked Julia Stegner, glancing over at the four-door coupé. At the BOSS Black show yesterday evening, Stegner opened the fourth Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin as the brand ambassador of the international fashion activities of Mercedes-Benz.

The fashion activities of Mercedes-Benz in over 20 countries now have a new face. International top model Julia Stegner will make her first appearance as the fashion brand-ambassador at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin Autumn/Winter 2009, which will take place from 28 January to 1 February 2009 at Bebelplatz, in the heart of Berlin.

Claiming its place alongside Milan, Paris and New York, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin has become a top new global fashion event. This is not only evident by the mounting number of top international fashion designers on its runways and the growing contingent of celebrities appearing on its red carpets. For the first time, American star photographer Dan Lecca has come to Berlin, as well. Regarded worldwide as the king of catwalk photography, Lecca is also the treasured resident photographer of several top designers, including Gucci, Calvin Klein and Marc Jacobs.

There was an air of “Sex and the City” around the German capital yesterday as the third Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin got underway. In picture-perfect form, Kim Cattrall – alias Samantha Jones – drove through Berlin in a Mercedes-Benz GLK with top model Eva Padberg at the wheel. Their destination was the Behala Halle in the city’s Westhafen district. There, the two fashion savvy stars attended the HUGO fashion show of Hugo Boss.

As part of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin Spring/Summer 2009, the ELLE Fashion Star award, the ‘Mercedes,’ will be conferred for the first time on July 19, 2008. The new award will honour exceptional personalities in the international fashion scene in three categories: Platinum, Best Collection and Newcomer.

The whole world is counting down to the opening of “Sex and the City”, expected to arrive in many theatres throughout Europe on May 29, and in theatres across the United States on May 30. There was an exclusive preview of the upcoming cultural highlight at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York in February, where visitors could watch movie clips, marvel at a display of the four leading ladies' original costumes and enjoy the presentation of the brand new Mercedes-Benz GLK that Samantha Jones alias Kim Cattrall drives in the movie.

With its excellent start, the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin 2007 has successfully established itself among the top international fashion events and will in January 2008 once again make its stages and catwalks available to famous couturiers and creative young designers.

Mercedes-Benz will launch its own Internet television broadcasting service on July 12 with a live report from Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin. “Mercedes-Benz TV” will broadcast in German and English and set new standards for online brand communication. The Internet TV service will feature a weekly news magazine hosted by Tanja Bülter, a society reporter from the RTL television network.

Top German model Eva Padberg is taking on a new role as brand ambassador for Mercedes-Benz. The sought-after star model is to represent the Stuttgart-based premium car brand at future international fashion and lifestyle events.
