Summer at the Mercede-Benz Museum
Mercedes-Benz test car, model series W 108, high in the Austrian Alps (Edelweißspitze/Großglockner mountain), used as a test vehicle for the anti-lock braking system (ABS). Photo from 1970. The boot houses a generator unit to power the measuring equipment. ABS had its series-production world premiere in the S-Class W 116 in 1978.
U404 Austrian Fire Service with tarpaulin: Product range 404 was produced from 1955-1980 and is still the most frequently built Unimog with almost 65,000 units manufactured. Its outstanding off-road mobility made it especially popular with fire services all over the world.
