The commercial vehicles division of Daimler AG has reached another milestone with the integrated “Asia Business Model”, which is an integral component of the Global Excellence Initiative “Daimler Trucks Number One”. The company will bundle the activities of the subsidiaries Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) headquartered in Kawasaki, Japan, and Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. (DICV) headquartered in Chennai, India, under the umbrella of “Daimler Trucks Asia”.

The Daimler Board of Management made the following personnel decision today: Effective August 1, 2013, Sven Ennerst (49) will take on global responsibility for the development department at Daimler Trucks. Ennerst will succeed Georg Weiberg (65), who will retire after working for Daimler for more than 40 years.

Daimler promises its commercial vehicle customers a one-stop comprehensive service deal. The four service areas are on show together at the "transport logistic" 2013 fair in Munich. Representatives from the Mercedes-Benz Bank, Mercedes-Benz CharterWay, Daimler FleetBoard and Mercedes-Benz Global Service & Parts will be on hand in hall 6A to talk shop with logistics professionals, fleet owners and drivers. The Japanese Daimler-subsidiary, Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC), is progressing towards its target with the “FUSO 2015” growth strategy. In the medium term, annual sales of 200,000 trucks and buses of the Fuso brand are to be sold in international markets. The large order for 140 Fuso light-duty trucks by Coca-Cola in Egypt can thus be credited to the growth campaign.

It's the latest chapter in the success story of the Canter Eco Hybrid: production of the new model in Tramagal, Portugal and its launch on the European market are set to begin in the third quarter of 2012. This will make the Canter Eco Hybrid the first series-produced truck of its class to be manufactured in Europe. Sales of the new generation model have already begun in Japan.
