Hollywood celebrities gave the new G500 Sport Utility vehicle a thumbs up after they had the opportunity to test drive this new model in Park City, Utah at the Sundance Film Festival held every year in January.

A sponsor of the Festival for the last twelve years, Mercedes-Benz provided a fleet of its popular M-Class sport utility vehicles as well as the versatile E320 4MATIC sedans and wagons to shuttle filmmakers, celebrities and other VIP’s to and from Festival events. This year, the new G500 was added to the lineup.

Throughout the week of the Festival, a handful of celebrities drove the G500, a high-end luxury sport utility vehicle. Celebrities such as Ray Liotta, Andie MacDowell, Benecio Del Torro, Patricia Arquette, John Corbett, Kyle MacLachlan, Andy Garcia and John Leguizamo drove the rugged yet luxurious G500 through Park City’s snow-covered roads, a perfect terrain to experience the go-anywhere G500’s solid construction, its 5-litre 292 hp V8 engine and its luxurious and well-appointed interior.

Equipped with a plethora of standard features also found in Mercedes-Benz’ top of the line S-Class, this tough, permanent all-wheel drive vehicle is the only SUV fitted with three lockable differentials. It can climb inclines up to 80% and is directionally stable on lateral slopes up to 54%. The G500 is priced at $106,900.

Mercedes-Benz Canada President and CEO, Ernst H. Lieb, said, “Every vehicle in our ever-growing lineup has its individual appeal but the G500 has always been a celebrity favourite worldwide. Its bold looks, its reliable solidity and its unsurpassable competence exude a certain individuality and flair akin to what many celebrities strive to achieve.”
